Vasilio’s Tambures Brothers: Doing Whatever It Takes

George, Kris and Paul Tambures, owners of Vasilio’s Restaurant and Pizzeria in Cortland, are coming back strong. To learn more about Vasilio’s Restaurant and Pizzeria, check out its website.

What are some ways your restaurant is rebounding from the effects of COVID-19?

Our establishment has been rebounding in various ways, including curbside pick-up innovations and by offering delivery for large catering orders. Having a strong pizza and carry-out business has been very beneficial to us. Also, our sauce is sold in many grocery stores around the area, and since the pandemic hit, our sauce sales have tripled! This unexpected provision has helped us out tremendously.

What’s been the reaction from customers so far?

Our customers are truly the best. We have been in business for nearly 40 years, and the support this community has showed us is truly breathtaking. When we needed them most, they have been there for us. We are truly grateful.

What impact has the outbreak had on you personally?

Personally, we experienced fear of the unknown concerning many elements of our business. We feared that the governor would shut us down again and we would adapt accordingly. We also battled a fear of lay-offs and having staffing issues. But again, our customers rock! They’ve really supported us through it all.

What advice are you sharing with the people you love?

Hope for the best and do whatever it takes, is what we tell each other during these trying times. Follow the governor’s rules and regulations; we’ll come out of this safer and stronger!
