Salvatore’s Coppola: Stay Engaged, Explore Resources

Salvatore Coppola, owner of Salvatore’s Italian Grill, with locations in Howland, Niles and Austintown, is coming back strong.

What are some ways your business is rebounding from the effects of COVID-19?

Thankfully, we have great customers that have supported us during the shutdown. In our re-opened dining rooms, we have installed barriers between tables and booths to comply with social distancing guidelines. We have also made a few changes to our takeout orders. To reduce traffic inside the restaurant, we have switched to curbside takeout exclusively. No need to leave the car! Just call us with an order or place it through our website, and we will bring everything out to you when you arrive.

What’s been the reaction from customers so far?

Customers have been very receptive to our changes. We have tried very hard to balance our customers’ comfort, safety and convenience so that they still have a great experience when they choose to dine with us.

What impact has the outbreak had on you personally?

It has been stressful, that is for sure. There was a lot of uncertainty and to a degree, that is still a factor. For me personally, I was concerned the most about my staff and their ability to earn money to live. Fortunately for us, our customers really helped out with generous tips on takeout orders. They got us through the hardest part, and we are truly grateful.

What advice are you sharing with the people you love?

Hang in there, and stay safe! There are a lot of resources out there to help you get through financial difficulties, both in the public and private sectors. Take advantage of them if you can! Also, stay in touch with those closest to you. We need to stay engaged with each other; I know some people have suffered from depression and anxiety over the past few months. Pick up the phone and call a loved one, you are not alone!

Is your dining room open?

Yes, we are currently open with a decreased number of tables. Our covered patio and lounge is also open. We do recommend calling ahead and placing a reservation: 330-609-7777 (Howland) or 330-799-2285 (Austintown).

What safety measures have you put in place for your customers and staff?

We are following all Ohio Health Department guidelines. Our staff is wearing masks, and we have created multiple sanitizing stations throughout the restaurant. Additionally, we have placed new barriers between almost all of our tables.

Do you deliver?

We do! Salvatore’s partners with Grubhub and Doordash for our delivery services. Visit either one of their websites, and have your favorite meal delivered straight to your door!
