Michal Naffah: ‘Be Patient; This Will Not Be Forever’

Michal Naffah, president and CEO of Naffah Hospitality Group and owner of several area restaurants, including Inner Circle Pizza – Canfield, Scacchetti’s Ironwood Grille and Shale Tavern & Grille, is coming back strong.

What are some ways your restaurants are rebounding from the effects of COVID-19?

In our three restaurants, we have just reopened for dine-in service and are slowly rebounding. During the quarantine, Inner Circle Pizza – Canfield was open for carry-out; the Shale Tavern & Grille in Lisbon and Scacchetti’s Ironwood Grille in Canfield were not. This will be a slow process. As restrictions are lifted, more seating will be helpful, and more employees will be called back to their shifts.

What’s been the reaction from customers so far?

Our customers have been wonderful and patient during the opening process. Everyone understands the rules.

What impact has the outbreak had on you personally?

Our immediate family works for our business. Three of us are immunocompromised, so we had to shelter in place. We were without an income, but still needed to pay the business bills and our personal bills. We also had the worry of having 300 employees out of work.

What advice are you sharing with the people you love?

Stay home, stay safe. Be patient, this will not be forever.
