Dr. John Rothrauff: Games, More Family Communication

Poland dentist Dr. John Rothrauff is hanging tough. You can read more about his practice at the Dr. John’s Family Dentistry website.

What are some ways the COVID-19 outbreak has changed your work life?

Dentists are considered a high-risk profession because of the aerosols that some of our equipment puts in the air. Because of this, we closed as soon as we got the first recommendation for the safety of our staff and patients. And moving forward, we will need to take all necessary precautions when we are able to open again so we continue to protect ourselves and our patients. I see some new regulations being put on our profession in the near future.

How about your personal life?

I have an immunocompromised son, so we have taken extra precaution. I only leave the house to shop for necessities and I remove my clothing before entering the house so as not to unknowingly bring the virus in the house.

What steps are you taking to hang tough?

The hardest step has been trying to educate our children about the severity of the pandemic.   No matter how many times we explain it, they don’t have any fear and don’t quite understand.

As far as hanging tough, we have cleaned the house, played board games, watched movies, read books, and communicated more. Hopefully we will be a stronger, closer family because of this.

What advice are you sharing with the people you love?

My advice is listen to what the experts and professionals are saying and stay home unless you have to absolutely leave the house.  If you do need to leave the house, practice social distancing and do your part to help prevent the spread of this virus.
