Generations Cafe’s Schwartz: Now Open, New Summer Sips

Lisa Schwartz, co-owner of Generations Café in Columbiana, is coming back strong, along with her husband, Rob.

What are some ways your business is rebounding from the effects of COVID-19?

We are easing our way back into the community, and taking things one day at a time. Having officially reopened Monday, June 14, here are a few ways we’re ensuring the safety and wellness of our team and community:

  • We were granted temporary “Curbside Delivery” spots in front of our business, which has been helpful in providing a contact-free pick-up option.
  • New summer items have been added to our drink menu, including matcha lattes (hot or iced)!
  • Currently, we’re in the process of getting an awning, along with tables and chairs, to expand outdoor seating options.
  • We limited our food menu until July 1 to feel out the new order and flow of things. In the meantime, only baked goods and some grab-and-go items will be available.

What’s been the reaction from customers so far?

The reaction from our customers has been overwhelmingly supportive; they are thankful we’ve returned! We have been missed, and that feels good!

What impact has the outbreak had on you personally?

Personally, we have felt a sense of loss (concerning our business and our community). The decision to come back or not to come back was difficult. There is a lot of conflicting information out there about the virus, which brought fear. On the other hand, I started a personal training business, because I didn’t know if Generations Café would be back or not. COVID-19 has brought a lot of changes, good and bad.

What advice are you sharing with the people you love?

The advice I’m sharing with those I love, first of all, is that I am so thankful that they are healthy and safe! Second of all, it is time to be a part of the economic solution, so let’s get back to work and back to some normalcy and routine.
